Literature Text

Sorry, little side note. I created your whole you, meaning your name, face, and eye/skin/hair color. Sorry if you don't like it, feel free to read the words and swap out some stuff for your own info, ok?

Also, I don't own Black Butler or it's characters, and I never will, sadly. I do however own my own OCs (you) and I own this plot, even if it may seem similar to others. Ok? Ok. Don't sue me or something. I don't own this lovely world of demons and hot rich boys.

Your short heels made crunching sounds as you stepped out of the carriage and onto the gravel path. The dirty path then turned into an elegant one made of a smooth pavement with beautiful designs engraved into it, some portions of the path even tinted a slight red or blue, green or purple. It was beautiful.

Beautiful, just like everything seemed to be at such a high-class rich-person estate. When you had received the message that you were to be staying here for the remainder of your childhood, you were shocked. All your life, you'd only been known as street scum, but suddenly you were being brought in a horse-drawn carriage to a lovely and elegant manor, where you'd be treated like a princess and have all your needs taken care of.

Honestly, it all seemed like a dream, and when you'd asked the man who had come to pick you up, he only said, "It was the will of your parents. They were very close to the couple that lived at the manor." You weren't sure how exactly these rich people would've known commoners such as your parents, but you were too in awe to ask such a question. You thought back to when the man had found you and convinced you to follow him...

"Stay away from me you idiots!" You stumbled through a dark alley, loosing your footing every now and then, causing the men chasing behind you to gain a few more feet. For your age, you were very fast, and if you hadn't fallen so much maybe they wouldn't have been able to get to you.

"Gotcha you stupid girl!" A rough hand grabbed you by your torso from behind, holding a crude dagger up to your neck. You panicked, and felt a warm sensation run through your body. No, it wasn't just warm. It was hot. Burning hot. Strangely, you didn't feel pain.

"Gah!" The arm around your waist and the knife at your neck disappeared. You turned around to see the man stumble back, bloodied and charred. What on earth...

"Witch! She's a witch! A demon, a-a" You gritted your teeth hearing those words, and the strange man along with his several other companions dropped dead. That's what it looked like anyway.

Your eyes widened in shock. This wasn't supposed to be happening anymore...

You stumbled back a few feet and hit something hard. You thought it must've been a wall... You turned around to see a tall, handsome man clad in black grin at you.

"That's definitely the girl." The man murmured.

"S-st-stay back!" You yelled at him, beginning to walk in the opposite direction.

"No, no mil lady. I mean you no harm. Lady Averell, are you not?" The man said politely, gracing you with a beautiful, yet sinister smile.

"How do you know my name? Look, get out of here, you saw what happened to them- I-I'll burn you too!" Your heart sped up, and although you wanted to believe the strange man's words, you simply couldn't.

"Please mil lady, calm down. I was sent by my master to retrieve you. He was very close to your parents." You stopped backing up and froze.

"My p-p-p-parents?" You studdered, eyes opening even wider than before.

"Yes, your family and his have been good friends for generations. He feels it would be in both his and your best interest to continue the tradition." What? How on earth...

"If you know so much about my parents, what were their names?" They died long ago, he surely wouldn't know their names would he? Plus, they'd even gone so far as to change their names to Michael and Nicole...

"Earl Matthias and Lady Victoria Bloodgood I do believe. Although, they did change their names years ago to Michael and Nicole..." He grinned again, showing his perfectly white teeth. Crap, he does know.

"Years before you were born, your parents arranged a deal with the Phantomhives, the family of whose my master belongs to. They agreed that should anything happen to them, you would be left in the care of the Phantomhives, and vice versa with their son, should anything ever happen to them. Tragically, both yours and my master's parents died at roughly the same time, so the deal never came into play. But my master is still alive, and only yesterday did he find out about the deal his parents made. He would like to keep their word and invite you to stay at his estate."

So mom and dad had rich friends eh? Living at a mansion would certainly beat the streets...

"Alright. I-I believe you." The man grinned and offered to take your hand.

"B-but wait. How did you know that I was the one you were looking for?" You asked. Surely you'd never met or even heard of the Phantomhives, you doubted this master knew much about you.

"Your parents had written a description of you. You were born with rare asymmetric eyes, one gold and one green. Your hair was a dark, velvet brown, and when in a panic or in extreme anger, you tended to set things on fire or mess with your surroundings." He gestured to the dead men behind you. "I think you about fit the bill. Plus, you responded when I called you by your name didn't you? Lady Averell?" You nodded. It did make sense... And although you had a strong feeling that this was just an elaborate set up so that this strange man could take you back to his home and use you, you went against your gut feeling and decided instead to put all suspicions aside.

"That makes sense... I guess. But, I've never met my parents before..." The man put a somewhat comforting hand on your shoulder.

"But parents know a child better than anyone right?" You nodded.

"Yeah, alright. Let's go." The man took your hand and led you to a carrage. He helped you up and soon you were riding through town and the streets that you knew so well, off to a manor that you sincerely hoped was real on a real leap of faith that this was a good idea.

You still weren't too sure if it was.
